>> For the second time in three years, Georgia Tech will play for the ACC Baseball Championship when the ninth-seeded Yellow Jackets battle sixth-seeded Maryland Sunday at 1 p.m. on ESPN2.
>> The Jackets, who became the ACC’s first-ever eighth-seed to win the title in 2012 (also in Greensboro) are now the league’s first ninth-seed to reach the title game.
>> Tech is 8-3 in its previous 11 ACC title game appearances. The program’s eight crowns trail only the nine by Clemson.
>> Behind one of the ACC’s best middle infield duos of 2B Mott Hyde and SS Connor Justus, Tech leads the NCAA and has tied the school record with 71 double plays. The Jackets have been error-free with seven double plays in their four ACC tourney games.
>> Hyde, who leads all active NCAA players in career games (248) and career starts (248), has hit four career homers in ACC tourney play, including three in Greensboro (two in 2012). Hyde is a career .305 hitter in 14 ACC tourney games with 12 RBI.
>> With 79 hits and eight triples, junior Daniel Spingola leads the ACC in both categories. He’s a team-best 6-for-14 in Greensboro.
