Tech Downed by No. 7 Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Georgia Tech softball (17-17, 2-9 ACC) fell to No. 7 Florida State (28-7, 7-1 ACC), 8-0 (5), on Saturday at JoAnne Graf Field.

Sophomore second baseman Grace Connelly picked up the lone hit for the Yellow Jackets on the afternoon, going 1-for-2.

In the circle, senior hurler Chandler Dennis (10-5) got the start as she tossed three innings and received the loss. Sophomore slinger Kinsey Norton (0.2 IP) and freshman right hander Jaidyn Studebaker (1 IP) also spent time on the rubber.

How it Happened

The Seminoles took the lead in the bottom of the second, driving in the first run of the game on an RBI single.

Florida State broke things open in the fourth, primarily behind one impactful swing, knocking a grand slam. The Noles plated one more run on a fielder’s choice, taking a 6-0 lead by the end of the inning.

In the following frame, Florida State added two more to its tally by way of a pair of RBI singles, closing out the 8-0 victory in the fifth.
