THE FLATS – Georgia Tech Hall of Fame baseball catcher Harvey F. Reagin II, who donned the White and Gold from 1971-74, passed away on Sunday at the age of 66.
Under head coach Jim Luck, Reagin appeared in 116 games for the Yellow Jackets, finishing with 82 hits, 67 RBI, 26 extra-base hits and nine home runs. Named a captain his senior year in 1974, Reagin led the team in RBI with 40 that season. He was also a member of the 1971 Tech team that finished as the District III Playoff runner-up as an at-large selection, defeating Maryland, Miami and Mississippi State to reach the finals.
Reagin was drafted in 1974 by the Atlanta Braves, where he spent 42 games with the A-Level Greenwood Braves in the Western Carolinas League.
He was inducted into the Georgia Tech Hall of Fame in 1983.
Reagin was born on April 19, 1952 and graduated from East Atlanta High School and Georgia Tech. He is survived by his wife Pamela, son Harvey Reagin, daughter Robin (Sam) Dyche, and seven grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Jan. 26, 2019 at Retro Church 831 Pavilion Court McDonough, Ga. Visitation at 2:00 with service at 3:00. Memorial contributions may be made to Retro Church.
