Softball Falls in Consolation Bracket

SUNNYVALE, Calif. (March 11) – The Georgia Tech softball team (12-15) fell to Wisconsin (10-7) by the score of 8-0 in the semifinals of the National Inviational Softball Tournament late Saturday night.

The loss eliminated the Yellow Jackets from the tournament, while Wisconsin advanced to the finals of the consolation bracket to be played Sunday.

The Badgers led throughout the game as they scored three runs in the first two innings, followed by two in the fourth, and three in the fifth.

Georgia Tech was held to just four hits on the evening as Ellen Styer, Lauren Schwartz and Susanne Miller each had a singles, while Kori Jacobson blasted a double. The defense for Georgia Tech also struggled as the Jackets had three errors in the game.

Freshman Tiffany Goodman (6-8) picked up the loss for the Jackets as she gave up 10 hits and walked three. Five of the eight runs the Badgers scored were unearned.

The Georgia Tech team will return to action on Wednesday, March 15th as they will host Indiana University in a 2pm double header at Glenn Field in Atlanta, Ga.
