ATLANTA – Georgia Tech has earned the No. 7 seed in the upcoming 2007 ACC Baseball Tournament, and will face second-seeded North Carolina Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Yellow Jackets’ tournament opener.
This year will mark the first with two round-robin brackets, guaranteeing each team a minimum of three teams in the tournament. The two winners of each bracket will meet in a single championship game Sunday at 1 p.m., with the victor earning the ACC’s automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
The Division `A’ bracket will consist of No. 1 seed Florida State, who claimed their first Atlantic Division title two weeks ago, No. 4 seed Clemson, No. 5 seed Miami and No. 8 seed Wake Forest.
The Division `B’ bracket includes No. 2 seed North Carolina, No. 3 seed Virginia, No. 6 seed NC State and No. 7 seed Georgia Tech.
Following the Yellow Jackets’ game against UNC on Wednesday, the Jackets will face third-seeded Virginia Thursday at 4 p.m. before wrapping up the round-robin tournament against NC State Saturday at 10 a.m.
In addition, all 13 games in this year’s ACC Baseball Tournament will be televised for the first time in league history with Fox Sports Net South and SportsSouth providing live coverage. The league tournament will also be broadcast on four other networks, which includes FSN Florida, SUN Sports, Comcast and NESN. Check your local listing for more details.
The 2007 ACC Baseball Championship takes place Wednesday-Sunday, May 23-27, at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville in Jacksonville, Fla.
