THE FLATS — The 2018 NFL regular season began on Sunday and Georgia Tech had a total of 10 #ProJackets active on rosters to start the year. Seven former Yellow Jackets escaped the opening weekend with wins.
Harrison Butker began his second season in the NFL much like he started his pro career. In the 38-28 win over the L.A. Chargers, Butker finished 5-for-5 on PATs and made his lone field goal attempt – a 46-yard try.
Also performing well on the offensive side of the ball was Demaryius Thomas, who had a fine opening week performance in the 27-24 win over Seattle. Thomas hauled in six passes for 63 yards, including a 23-yard reception, and one touchdown in the close victory for the Broncos.
On defense, Chris Milton began his second year with the Indianapolis Colts and started things off well, despite the 11-point loss to the Bengals. Milton finished Week 1 with six total tackles (four solo) and two passes defended.
Jeremiah Attaochu made his debut with the New York Jets and recorded a solo tackle in the 48-17 romp of the Detroit Lions on Sunday. Also making their debut with a new team was Morgan Burnett, who, after spending eight seasons with the Green Bay Packers, began 2018 with the Pittsburgh Steelers after signing a three-year contract this offseason. Morgan had two total tackles in Week 1 (one solo).
