We’ve moved one week closer to the start of the 2015 NFL season. College football returns this week as the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets host Alcorn State on Thursday night at Bobby Dodd Stadium. Over the next seven days, NFL teams will be forced to cut their rosters down to 53 players. Here’s a list of the important roster cut dates coming up:
- Tuesday, Sept. 1, 4 p.m. – Rosters need to be cut down to 75 players
- Thursday, Sept. 3 – Final preseason game
- Saturday, Sept. 5, 4 p.m. – Rosters needs to be cut down to 53 active players
- Sunday, Sept. 6, 12 p.m. – Practice squads can start to be formed
In week 3 of NFL preseason action, Green Bay’s Morgan Burnett and Baltimore’s Daryl Smith turned in the best #ProJackets performances, each tallying five tackles.
On the offensive side, Shaq Mason made his third straight start for the New England Patriots, while Denver’s Demaryius Thomas had three catches and Baltimore’s Darren Waller had one catch. Kevin Cone also added one catch for Miami; the Dolphins released Cone on Monday.
The 2015 NFL Regular Season kicks off Sept. 10 with Pittsburgh vs. New England.
