Started as a senior after serving as a solid back-up for three years at defensive tackle… began career in the 4-3 and successfully converted to the 3-4… tied teammate Rod Sweeting for the most career games played in Georgia Tech history (54)… played in the Raycom Collegiate All-Star Game… moves well for a player his size… played as a redshirt freshman in 2009 behind two starting tackles (Darryl Richard and Vance Walker) who went on to play in the NFL.

2012 (senior): Started all 14 games at defensive tackle… earned honorable mention All-ACC honors by the league[apos]s head coaches… led all Tech down linemen in tackles (28) including 12 solo tackles… recorded 5.0 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks… broke up three passes… recorded four tackles and a half-sack at Clemson (Oct. 6)… had three tackles and a tackle for loss vs. Boston College (Oct. 20)… registered a sack in the win over Duke (Nov. 17)… had a pair of solo tackles and two tackles for loss in the ACC Championship game against Florida State. 2011 (junior): Played in all 13 games as the top back-up at defensive tackle… recorded 11 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, 1.0 sacks… played well and recorded two tackles vs. Kansas (Sept. 17)… had two tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and a sack for a loss of 16 yards in a win over sixth-ranked Clemson (Oct. 29)… recorded two tackles vs. Virginia Tech (Nov. 10).

2010 (sophomore): Played in 12 games and started once (vs. Miami)… recorded 20 tackles, 0.5 tackles for loss and had one pass break-up… had at least one tackle in every game he played… registered a career-high five tackles, including four solo tackles, in the win at North Carolina (Sept. 18)… had three tackles and a half-tackle for loss in the win at Wake Forest (Oct. 2)… recorded three tackles at Georgia (Nov. 27).

2009 (redshirt freshman): Showed great promise as a back-up defensive tackle… played in all 14 games… made first career start vs. Clemson in the ACC Championship Game… played a more prominent role as the season progressed… recorded 16 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss… also had a quarterback hurry… had four tackles and a half-tackle for loss vs. Georgia (Nov. 28)… recorded a then career-high four tackles in the win over Virginia Tech (Oct. 17)… had a pair of solo tackles and a tackle for loss at Mississippi State (Oct. 3).

2008 (true freshman): Redshirted and served as a key member of the scout team.

High School: A standout defensive tackle at Enterprise High School… showed ability to play on both sides of the ball… ranked as the 48th-best offensive tackle nationally by Rivals.com… ranked by Rivals as the 18th-best prep prospect in Alabama… ranked as the 24th-best Alabama prospect by Scout.com… ranked No. 59 nationally among offensive tackles by Scout… made 70-plus tackles, 20 tackles-for-loss, one sack and one interception as a senior… set a school record with eight sacks in one game… played four years of high school football at almost every position on the offensive and defensive lines.

Personal: Father, Terry Jones, played football at Auburn… cousins Fred Baxter and Randy Hart played football at Auburn… his brother, Beau Reliford, plays football at Florida State… chose Tech over Louisville, Alabama, Auburn and others… born June 14, 1990 in Montgomery, Ala… given name is Tarence Jariviz Barnes, but goes by T.J… has four teenage siblings… a business management major.
