Saw action in all 13 games, coming off the bench in basically every passing situation… started in the Humanitarian Bowl… his three forced fumbles ranked tied for seventh in the ACC and tied for 55th nationally… had 21 tackles including 11 solos… had 6.0 TFLs and 4.0 sacks… led the team with four QB hurries… led the team in blocked kicks (2)… forced three fumbles and recovered one…both of his tackles in the season opener at Notre Dame (Sept. 1) were for loss… also had one sack, one forced fumble and one QB hurry against the Irish… recovered a fumble the next week vs. Samford (Sept. 8)… forced a fumble, had a tackle-for-loss and three total tackles at Virginia (Sept. 22)… had a season-high two quarterback hurries at Miami (Oct. 13)… was at his best in the Virginia Tech game (Nov. 1)… had two sacks, seven total tackles, five solo efforts, blocked a Hokie kick, forced a fumble and had one QB hurry… had a sack at Duke (Nov. 10)… blocked a potential game-winning field goal by North Carolina (Nov. 17) as time expired.

Second on the team with five sacks despite starting only one game… tallied 33 tackles, six tackles-for-loss, three forced fumbles and two pass break-ups… made two key plays in Tech[apos]s win over Maryland with sacks on the Terps[apos] final two snaps… with the Jackets leading 27-23 in the final minute, Maryland faced third-and-goal at the Tech four-yard line, when Johnson burst off the edge to sack QB Sam Hollenbach for a 10-yard loss and an additional five yards for grounding… Johnson again sacked Hollenbach on fourth down to preserve the victory… sat out the first two games of the season due to injury, then had five tackles, a sack, two pass break-ups and a forced fumble against Troy… had five tackles with two tackles-for-loss, including one sack, vs. Miami… had a sack and two forced fumbles against Wake Forest.

Against Connecticut, he forced a fumble on kickoff coverage that Tech recovered to set up a touchdown… had a sack against Virginia Tech… totalled six tackles on the season… saw most of his action on special teams… one of eight true freshmen to play in 2005.

High School
One of the nation[apos]s top prep tight ends… team captain and MVP for coach Richard Bush at Dallas County High… caught 42 passes for 650 yards and six touchdowns as a senior while making 92 tackles and 14 sacks… had 25 receptions for 300 yards and three touchdowns as a junior… also an outstanding basketball player, who averaged 16 points and 10 rebounds as a junior.
