Patterson Named ACC Baseball Player of the Week

May 10, 2004

ATLANTA – Eric Patterson was selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week after hitting .400 (4-for-10) this past weekend while leading the Yellow Jackets to a three-game sweep over Duke.

The junior second baseman recorded a pair of three-run home runs en route to slugging 1.000 for the weekend. He also drove in seven runs while scoring seven times for Georgia Tech. The Kennesaw, Ga., native drew six walks, two in each game, and accumulated six stolen bases to post a .625 on base percentage. Patterson tied a Yellow Jacket record with the most steals in a game when he swiped five bases in Saturday’s 9-8 win over the Blue Devils.

Georgia Tech will next face Georgia on Tuesday at Turner Field in the Spring Baseball Classic for Kids before hosting the Clemson Tigers for a three-game weekend series beginning Friday at 7 p.m. Three of the Yellow Jackets’ four games will be broadcast on Fox Sports Net South this week.
