ATLANTA–Volleyball standout Lynnette Moster, football star Chris Reis and golfer Nicholas Thompson were named the Wendy’s Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, October 18, 2004.
Moster, a senior from Liberty, Ind., led the Jackets to two conference victories against Virginia and Maryland. Against Virginia, Moster recorded a season high 29 kills and hit .339 and added 15 digs. The next night against Maryland, Moster posted a season high 18 digs and added 13 kills. On the week, Moster averaged 6.00 kills per game, hit .319 and had 4.71 digs per game.
Reis, a junior from Roswell, Ga., again sparked a standout performance by the Georgia Tech defense in the Yellow Jackets’ 24-7 victory over Duke. One week after holding Maryland to just 81 yards, Tech limited the Blue Devils to 184 yards of total offense. Reis had three tackles for loss, including two quarterback sacks, plus two pass breakups and a forced fumble. He finished with seven tackles. In Tech’s last two games, in which the Jackets have allowed a combined 265 yards, Reis has collected six tackles for 47 yards in losses, including 4.5 sacks.
Thompson, a senior from Coral Springs, Fla., tied for third place individually with a seven-under-par score of 206 to lead Georgia Tech to a second-place finish at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate in Birmingham, Ala. Tech finished four shots behind Augusta State. Thompson opened with a 67 and finished with a 68 in posting the second-best 54-hole score of his career, and finished three strokes off the pace of medallist Kalle Edberg of Augusta State. He has a stroke average of 70.67 in six fall rounds.
