Morrow and Kracke Named Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week

Anthony Morrow and Ashley Kracke were named Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, January 9, 2006.

Morrow, a sophomore guard from Charlotte, N.C., poured in a career-high 28 points, a career-high 9 rebounds and 4 assists in Tech’s 76-67 win over Vanderbilt Tuesday night, then followed with 15 points, four rebounds and four assists when the Yellow jackets upended No. 11 Boston College, 60-58, Sunday night. His biggest assist came with 33 seconds to go in the game when he drew the defense to him under the basket, and whipped a pass to Zam Fredrick for a three-pointer to break a 55-all tie. Morrow went 9-of-14 from the floor (3-5 from three-point range) and 7-of-9 from the foul line against the Commodores, who entered the game with a 9-1 record. Against the Eagles, Morrow was 6-of-15 from the floor, 3-of-8 from three-point range.

For the week, Morrow averaged 21.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, made 15 of 29 shots from the floor and 6 of 13 three-point tries as Tech improved to 8-4 overall, 2-0 in the ACC. He had three steals in the two games and just five turnovers in 71 minutes.

Kracke, a senior from Vestavia Hills, Ala., tallied three wins for Tech in the 200 backstroke, 400 freestyle relay and 400 medley relay to lead the Yellow Jackets to a win over Savannah College of Art and Design on Saturday afternoon. Kracke clocked a time of 2:07.14 in the 200 back, led off the medley relay with a split time of 1:00.96 (100 back) and swam the third leg of the 400 free relay team. The Yellow Jackets will have a week off before traveling to Clemson to face the Tigers at 1 p.m. on Jan. 21.
