Men’s Relay, Williams Nab Top Tech Times to Finish Weekend

THE FLATS – Top all-time marks poweredGeorgia Tech outdoor track and field to a strong conclusion of its busy weekend at the Penn Relays and the North Florida Invitational on Saturday.

The Yellow Jackets were led by three top-5 finishes in the women’s 100m hurdles and a top-5 finish in the men’s 4×800.

“The men had a very good weekend,” head men’s coach Grover Hinsdale said. “I was very pleased with how they competed, which resulted in several PRs. Both groups, Philadelphia and Jacksonville performed well. This week we will be in our final preparations for the ACC Championships.”

“I thought the women were able to put together some good performances this weekend,” head women’s coach Alan Drosky said. “I’m proud that we took the school record up at the Penn Relays and that we had several PRs in Florida as well. This weekend served well to help better prepare us for the ACC Championships.”

Georgia Tech was led on the final day of the Penn Relays by its team of Bennett Hillier, Andres Littig, Gabriel Darosa and Avery Bartlett. Finishing third, the squad turned in the second-fastest time in school history, 7:18.18 – just 1.29 seconds shy of the program mark.

Finishing out Florida was the women’s 100m hurdles group. Jeanine Williams led the pack by running the second-fastest time in Georgia Tech history, 12.89 – also good for the fastest time in the ACC this season. The performance is also the fourth-fastest in the NCAA East Region and is currently tied for 11 th in the world.

The Yellow Jackets dominated the 100m hurdles by taking the top three spots. Kenya Collins finished just 0.02 seconds off her PR to place second with a time of 13.45 while Raven Stewart finished third by tying her career-best time of 13.51.
