McHenry, Kown & Stojanovska Named Wendy's Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week

March 22, 2004

ATLANTA-Tech forward Anthony McHenry, starting pitcher Andrew Kown and swimming All-American Vesna Stojanovska were named the Wendy’s Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, March 22, 2004.

McHenry, a junior from Birmingham, Ala., scored ten points in each of Tech’s first two NCAA Tournament games. He shot 75-percent from the field in Tech’s wins over Northern Iowa and Boston College. McHenry went 5-of-8 against Northern Iowa and was a perfect 4-of-4 against Boston College from the floor. He was responsible for four steals in Tech’s second round win against Boston College.

Kown, a junior from Marietta, Ga., pitched a complete game four-hitter to lead Georgia Tech to a 9-2 win over Wake Forest on Sunday. Kown fired the first complete game of his career, holding the Demon Deacons to two runs on four hits and three walks while striking out eight. After allowing two runs in the first inning, Kown retired 20 consecutive batters before finally allowing a two-out walk in the seventh inning. Kown, who threw 115 pitches including 73 strikes, allowed just two runners to advance past first base after the first inning.

Stojanovska, a freshman from Skopje, Macedonia, garnered All-America accolades at Women’s NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships. She swam a personal-best time of 2:11.02 in the 200-meter butterfly to finish in 10th place at the Women’s NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Stojanovska becomes the first women’s swimming and diving athlete to claim such honors. With that swim, the Yellow Jackets finish in 33rd in the nation with seven points. Stojanovska finished 37th in the 200-meter freestyle (2:01.58) and in a tie for 23rd place in the 400-meter freestyle (4:10.90).
