Jackets Wrap Up Florida Relays

April 1, 2017

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Georgia Tech track and field tallied 13 career bests over the entirety of the meet to wrap up the Florida Relays on Saturday. The Jackets return to action April 6-8 for the Tennessee Relays.

“We had three relays racing today and competed really well in each of them,” said women’s track and field head coach Alan Drosky. “The great thing about relays is that it isn’t about the individual, it’s about the team. The women competed hard throughout the three days of competition and every event area continues to improve.”

The women’s shuttle hurdle team of Kenya Collins, Jeanine Williams, Raven Stewart and Marinice Bauman took second with a time of 54.60 to kick off the day for the Yellow Jackets. The team of Charlotte Stephens, Haley Anderson, Amy Ruiz and Brittany Powell took fifth in the 4×800 with a time of 8:53.52.

Preston Smith recorded a career best in the men’s triple jump of 15.15m, good for third in the ACC so far this season. Bennett Hillier, Andres Littig, Frank Pittman and Avery Bartlett teamed up to take fourth in the men’s 4×800 relay with a time of 7:28.54.
