Jackets Unable to Match Campbell’s Big Innings

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Despite eight runs from the bats, Georgia Tech baseball couldn’t overcome two big innings from Campbell, falling 15-8 on Friday afternoon at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

The Yellow Jackets (34-23) trailed 5-0 after the second inning before scoring two runs in the next two innings. The Fighting Camels (41-17) then tacked on five in the sixth to extend the lead, but Tech never gave up, scoring six runs in the final four innings.

Tech used six pitchers overall on the day. Starter RHP John Medich (4-5) received the loss, allowing five runs on five hits in 1.2 innings.

At the plate, Tech was able to scratch across 13 hits overall. Tim Borden II stayed hot, mashing three hits for four RBI off two doubles and one home run. Also finishing with multiple hits was Chandler Simpson, Kevin Parada and Stephen Reid. Colin Hall and Andrew Jenkins also drove in runs off their hits.

Campbell was led by Logan Jordan, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI. RHP Thomas Harrington (12-2) received the win, allowing five runs on nine hits in 7.0 innings.

Georgia Tech will await the result of tonight’s Tennessee-Alabama State matchup to find out who it will play on Saturday, June 4 at noon ET. First pitch will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and WREK 91.1 FM.
