THE FLATS – Georgia Tech baseball stayed red-hot at the plate as it recorded 22 hits on the day to rout Gardner-Webb, 22-11, in seven innings on Saturday night at Mac Nease Baseball Park at Russ Chandler Stadium.
Jackson Finley added two more home runs for the Yellow Jackets (25-18) – giving him four on the weekend – as he drove in a whopping seven runs on the day. Jadyn Jackson also drove in three runs on a career-best three-hit day for the shortstop. Angelo Dispigna hit the walkoff two-run homer in the seventh to join Kristian Campbell and Tyler Minnick in the three-hit club.
Jake DeLeo drove in three runs on two hits, while Drew Compton had a double and a solo home run for his two-hit day. John Giesler finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and Stephen Reid drove in a run on his hit.
Tech needed just three arms on the day. RHP Terry Busse got his third start of the season, going 3.1 innings and allowing four earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts. RHP Dawson Brown (3-2) made his second appearance since returning from injury, getting his third win of the season. In 2.1 innings of work, he allowed four runs on seven hits before LHP Dalton Smith closed out the final 1.1 innings of work scoreless.
The Runnin’ Bulldogs (27-15) were led by Pete Capobianco, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI. LHP Jacob McCaskey (1-2) received the loss, allowing three runs on one hit in 0.1 innings before he was removed due to injury.
Georgia Tech will finish out the series against Gardner-Webb on Sunday, April 30. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra.

- Raising his season average to .336, John Giesler is currently on an eight-game hit streak and five game multi-hit streak. In those eight games, Giesler has hit .517 for 15 hits, four doubles, a triple and three home runs for 11 RBI. He’s slugging 1.034 with a .588 on-base percentage, getting hit once and drawing four walks.
- This week, Jackson Finley is hitting .538 with seven hits, two doubles and four home runs for a gaudy 12 RBI. He’s slugging 1.615 with a .571 on-base percentage.
