Jackets Receive No. 8 Seed; Will Play in Pool A

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Georgia Tech will be the No. 8 seed in the 2018 ACC Baseball Championship this week and will be part of Pool A along with the Coastal Division Champions and overall No. 1 seed North Carolina and No. 12 Pittsburgh. The tournament will get underway on Tuesday at Durham Bulls Athletics Park.

The Yellow Jackets will be participating in the program’s 39th-straight ACC Tournament having made the postseason conference event every year since joining the league in 1980.

For the second-straight year, the Jackets (31-25, 14-16 ACC) will open up the ACC Championship event with the first game on Tuesday, May 22, at 11 a.m. Tech will take on No. 12 Pittsburgh (27-25, 11-19 ACC) in the tournament opener.

Georgia Tech will then play its second game of pool play on Friday, May 25, at 3 p.m. versus the No. 1-seeded Tar Heels (37-17, 22-8 ACC).

The winner of each pool (Pool A, Pool B, Pool C, Pool B) will earn a spot in the semifinals on Saturday, May 26, with the chance to play in the ACC Championship game on Sunday, May 27.

Regional Sports Networks (RSN) from across the conference footprint and across the nation will carry all 14 games on Tuesday through Saturday. Sunday’s noon championship game will televised nationally by ESPN2. All games will also be available on the ESPN app (subject to blackout).

The ACC Baseball Championship FanFest will be held Saturday, May 26, from noon to 6 p.m. during the semifinals of the championship. The free event, located on Blackwell Street outside of the Durham Bulls Athletic Park and Historic American Tobacco Campus, includes live music, interactive games, student-athlete autographs, and giveaways.
