THE FLATS – Georgia Tech men’s tennis hosts Columbia, Illinois and Georgia at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex in the MLK Invitational from Jan. 14-16 for its final preparation before it starts the team portion of the season. The Jackets play at 2 p.m. each day of competition.
Team Update: The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team will have the whole squad together for the first time in the 2016-17 season. The newest addition to the squad, early enrollee Carlos Divar, will make his debut on The Flats in the tournament.
Singles Update: Junior Christopher Eubanks makes his return to The Flats for the first time since April of 2016. In the latest rankings released by the ITA, Eubanks remains in the top 10 in the nation at No. 9. Sophomore Andrew Li joins Eubanks in the rankings at No. 61 following a stellar fall campaign. Li ended the fall season on a five-game winning streak.
Doubles Update: To close out the fall campaign, Li and senior Cole Fiegel teamed up to be the champions of the Bulldog Scramble by winning all three of their matches. Eubanks and senior Carlos Benito only played together twice in the fall campaign but look forward to hitting the court together again this season.
The Field: Columbia, Illinois and Georgia will join the Jackets on The Flats for the invitational. Columbia ranks at No. 24 in the latest ITA rankings. The Yellow Jackets will face the Lions at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14. Tech will face No. 17 Illinois on Sunday, Jan. 15 at 2 p.m. The Jackets will wrap up the tournament by facing No. 5 Georgia on Monday, Jan. 16 at 2 p.m.
