2018-19 (Senior):

Finished his senior season with an overall singles record of 11-11 … competed primarily in the No. 3 position for Tech, before moving into the No. 2 position for the team’s last five matches … nationally ranked as high as No. 81 … upset No. 28 Jackie Tang of Columbia 7-5, 6-3 (Jan. 20) … topped Juan Martin Jalif, 6-3, 6-1, to help the Jackets take down No. 21 Florida State (Mar. 1) … topped No. 107 Josh Peck, 6-4, 7-6 (7-1), to help Georgia State upset No. 7 North Carolina (Mar. 15) … took down Alex Ribeiro of Virginia Tech, 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 (Mar. 24) … helped the Jackets defeat Boston College with a win over Markus Nordby 6-4, 6-4 (Apr. 14) … finished with a 5-12 doubles record … paired with Cole Gromley to win a couple of matches against The Citadel (Jan. 23), 6-1 over Will Graham/Roy Hobson and then 6-0 over Gavin Stewart/Willem van Zyl … paired with Brandon Freestone to defeat Andrew Rogers/Martim Prata of No. 26 Tennessee, 6-4 (Feb. 24) … helped the Jackets defeat No. 44 Duke, pairing with Zummy Bauer to take down Catalin Mateas/Vincent Lin, 6-1 (Mar. 17) … paired with Gromley to top Chris Grasel/Markus Nordby of Boston College, 6-2 (Apr. 14).

2017-18 (Junior): Match-by-Match

Battled nagging injuries all season to accumulate an 8-13 overall record and 7-11 dual record … won final three matches of the season to help Tech reach ACC Tournament quarterfinals for fourth-straight year … won four of his last five matches to close season … defeated Boston College’s Conor Mullins in straight sets twice (April 22, April 25) … had no bigger match than when he helped the Jackets snap No. 31 Virginia Tech’s seven-match winning streak in the second round of the ACC Tournament … after staring at the wrong side of a 3-1 team score, Tech battled to even it at 3-3 with Li’s match against Freddy Mesmer to go … Li was able to outlast Mesmer to clinch the win, 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 … appeared on a variety of doubles teams to amass a record of 11-14 overall and 11-11 in dual matches … primary partner on the season was junior Phillip Gresk … won final four matches of the season with Gresk, including a crucial 7-6 (3) match over No. 26 Notre Dame’s Guillermo Cabrera/Alex Lebedev (April 20) … went 2-0 in the Yellow Jackets’ ACC Tournament postseason run, getting wins against No. 31 Virginia Tech and No. 24 Notre Dame … Named to All-ACC Academic team.

2016-17 (Sophomore): Match-by-Match

Earned All-ACC Third Team honors … Played at the two spot for the Yellow Jackets … Missed the South Carolina and Auburn matches because he was in Vietnam playing for Hong Kong in the Davis Cup … Finished with a 20-14 overall record in singles play with a 10-8 mark in dual match play … Registered a 19-9 record in doubles with an 11-3 ledger in dual match play … Won the doubles title at the Bulldog Scramble with Cole Fiegel … Entered the ITA singles rankings at No. 61 following the fall 2016 season, climbing as high as No. 52.

2015-16 (Freshman): Match-by-Match

Played impressively in the fall and helped solidify the bottom of the Tech lineup in the spring … Performed well enough to see action as high as No. 2 in the order and play eight matches at No. 3 … Went 17-18 overall in singles, 9-10 in dual matches in the spring and 3-8 in conference matches … Teamed with senior Nathan Rakitt to go 14-7 in doubles, 12 of those wins in the No. 3 spot, and went 5-4 in ACC matches.

Junior Tennis: The right-handed Li is 24-16 in singles and 73-50 for his junior career internationally, 18-14 and 54-46 in doubles. He made the finals of a Grade 4 ITF event in Thailand earlier this month, defeating two players ranked in the top 80, as well as a Grade 4 event in China early in 2014. He won the doubles title in the China event … A participant in the 2014 Asian Games for China … Won the singles title at the CRC Open in Hong Kong, knocking off two former United States collegiate All-Americans in the process … Captured his first ITF junior tournament championship in January 2015, by winning an ITF Junior event in Hong Kong … Won the singles title and teamed with Jack Wong of Hong Kong to win the doubles title as well.
