ATLANTA – Georgia Tech’s women’s basketball team enjoyed its first scrimmage of the preseason on Friday afternoon. Playing two 20 minute halves, the Jackets demonstrated tough defense and showed signs of a dynamic offense.
Tech freshmen Alex Montgomery, Iasia Hemingway, Deja Foster and Shaday Woolcock played like the top-10 recruiting class they are. Montgomery shot seven-of-nine from the floor for 14 points, while Hemingway shot seven-of-15 for 14 points and grabbed five rebounds. Foster and Woolcock each took turns at the point in the scrimmage, leading Tech up and down the court.
Senior Chioma Nnamaka, not to be outdone by her freshmen teammates, led the way for the Jackets, shooting eight-for-13 for 16 points and registering six steals. Senior Jill Ingram, also spent time at the point, finishing with seven points and seven steals.
The women’s basketball team will hold their annual Hoopsfest celebration Saturday afternoon with a scrimmage beginning at 4 p.m. and an autograph session at 5:30 p.m., at Alexander Memorial Coliseum following the Yellow Jackets’ football game with Army.
