ATLANTA – After sweeping Maryland in a three-game Atlantic Coast Conference series this past weekend, the Georgia Tech softball team (25-6, 3-0 ACC) will travel to Texas for match-ups with No. 17 Baylor (18-11) on Tuesday and No. 4 Texas (31-3) on Wednesday. The Yellow Jackets are 19-2 in their last 21 games.
The Baylor Bears were swept by No. 10 Arizona State this past weekend, 3-0 and 5-3, in Tempe, Ariz. BU is hitting .312 as a team and is led by Brette Reagan. Reagan is hitting .446, with seven home runs and 28 runs batted in.
Tech and the Longhorns will be a battle between one of the nation’s top hitting and pitching teams. The Yellow Jackets lead the ACC in batting (.334), home runs (29), slugging percentage (.513), on base percentage (.411) and stolen bases (68).
Texas is led by two-time USA Pitcher of the Year Cat Osterman who stands at 19-1, with a microscopic 0.21 earned run average. The Longhorns hold a 0.64 team ERA and carry a .972 fielding percentage.
The Jackets’ Whitney Haller continues to lead the way in the ACC. Haller, a freshman first baseman from Marietta, Ga., leads the league in runs scored (33), hits (43), home runs (11), RBI (37) and slugging percentage (.887).
In the circle, sophomore Whitney Humphreys continues to lead the ACC in wins with 13. Humphreys, a native of Sandy Spring, W. Va., has only tasted defeat twice this season and leads Tech with a 1.76 ERA.
The Yellow Jackets and Bears will play a single game on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. ET, while the Longhorns and Jackets will play two games, beginning at 6 p.m. ET.
