TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Lightning and a heavy downpour cancelled mostof the action Saturday as the Georgia Tech track and field team competed on the final day of the Alabama Relays at the Sam Bailey Track Complex. The lightning caused a one hour and 25-minute delay at 6:55 p.m. and shortly after the inclement weather returned to cause the cancellation of the remaining events.
Before the meet was called, Georgia Tech’s Jasmine Bush set a personal-record in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.70 and Monique Pate just missed tying her personal-best mark of 15.10, crossing the line in 15.11.
On the men’s side, Paul DeVito improved his 110-meter hurdle time from a week ago. At the Georgia Relays last weekend DeVito logged a time of 15.47 and shaved it down to 15.03 at the Alabama Relays.
Two of Tech’s relay teams finished in the top 10 at the meet. The men’s distance medley relay (DMR) run by Jeremy Greenwald, Alexander Reese, Alec Clifford and Joseph Stowe took fourth with a time of 9:55.78
The foursome of Christina Pensock, Donjhae Jones, Jhanelle McLeod and Julienne McKee placed eighth in the 4×100-meter relay with a time of 47.77.
The Jackets are back in action March 29-30, as the squad splits up to compete in the Stanford Invitational and to host the Yellow Jacket Invitational.
