Hern, Rohling Score For Georgia Tech on Day One of ACC Championships

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Kimery Hern and Charles Rohling each scored to lead the Georgia Tech men’s and women’s track and field teams on day one of the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships at Kehoe Track at Ludwig Field on the University of Maryland campus on Thursday.

Hern, a sophomore from Clinton, Wash., placed second in the women’s hammer throw to break her own school-record with an NCAA Regional qualifying mark of 193 feet, 5 inches. Her best throw was 10 feet better than the third-place finisher and garnered eight points for Tech. Freshman Samantha Musil finished 15th with a throw of 141 feet, 3 inches.

Rohling, a sophomore from Kennesaw, Ga., finished seventh in the men’s hammer throw with a personal-best mark of 175 feet to earn two points for the Jackets.

Exclusive three-day coverage of the championships will be available for fans to watch at 8 p.m. ET nightly on ACC Select. Friday’s coverage will consist of recaps of 30 minutes or more showcasing the highlights and triumphs from the majority of the day’s competition, with events that begin later in the evening being part of the following day’s show. Saturday’s show will feature a recap of all of the day’s events, including the awards presentation.
