THE FLATS – A former star at Wheeler High School in Marietta, Ga., who transferred from Maryland, Charles Mitchell is eligible to play in 2014-15 after having his request for an immediate eligibility waiver approved by the NCAA.
Mitchell has two year of eligibility at Tech after averaging 6.0 points and 5.8 rebounds over 70 games, including 17 starts, in two seasons at Maryland. Last season, Mitchell appeared in all 32 games, starting the final 10 of the season for the Terrapins. He averaged 6.5 points (.517 shooting) and led team with 6.3 rebounds per game. He ranked sixth in the ACC in rebounding among underclassmen.
