Hello My Name is ... Bernard Woodside

THE FLATS – A four-year letterwinner and two-year captain at Tampa Prep, Bernard Woodside joined the Georgia Tech team as a non-scholarship player during the summer of 2014.

Woodside averaged 6.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists in his senior year as a teammate to current Tech teammate Josh Heath. He helped Tampa Prep to the 2012 3A state championship (27-3 record), three regional titles and four district crowns, and a 110-13 record over four years. Woodside also was a sprinter for two years on the track team, where he achieved success on the regional level in the 100 and 200 meters.

His father Bernard was a three-year letterwinner in basketball at LSU in the late 1980s and went on to play professionally in the Continental Basketball Association and overseas. Among extended family involved in athletics are cousin Tyler Desire, currently a football player at Princeton, cousin Anthony Grant, head basketball coach at Alabama, cousin Keith Woodside, a football player at Texas A&M and for the Green Bay Packers, and Connie Hawkins, a former ABA and NBA great.
