The Georgia Tech women’s basketball team (5-4) welcomes Central Arkansas (4-4) to McCamish Pavilion on Sunday at 4 p.m.

Fans that bring a new, unwrapped toy donation will receive a $2 ticket to the game. The toy donation will benefit the  Toy Drive. At halftime, fans are encouraged to bring Teddy Bears and stuffed animals to throw on to the court for Georgia Tech’s annual Teddy Bear Toss. Winners of the Yellow Jackets’ Jacket 2 Jacket Reading program will also be honored at halftime.

As always, kids get in free on Sundays and can enjoy the Kids Zone which features inflatables, a DJ sign making, bracelets and face tattoos.  The Kids Zone begins an hour before tipoff.

– Senior Sydney Wallace is 42 points away from becoming the 27th Jacket too score 1,000 points.
– Dating back to the 2012-13 season, Tech has won 14 out of its 17 home non-conference games. Tech’s loss to Georgia was its first nonconference home loss since Dec. 2, 2012 against UGA.
– Sophomore Kaela Davis is averaging a team-high 18.4 points per game, which is good for fourth in the ACC. Davis was just named to the Naismith Trophy Top 50 Watch List.

daviS on Wooden & Naismith watch lists
Sophomore Kaela Davis was named to the John R. Wooden Preseason Top 30 watch list. Davis is one of six ACC student-athletes on the list for one of the nation’s most prestigious college basketball awards. She is also one of six sophomores that were recognized. The list is chosen by a preseason poll of national college women’s basketball media members.

Davis has also been named to the Naismith Trophy Women’s Top 50 Watch List for the second year in a row. Davis is one of 12 sophomores on the list and one of 10 ACC players honored. The 50 player watch list was compiled by the Atlanta Tipoff Club’s Board of Selectors, which based its criteria on player performances from the previous year and expectations for the 2014-15 college basketball season.

Georgia Tech played in its first overtime game at #16/16 Michigan State on Dec. 4 since falling to Clemson on Jan. 30, 2014, 80-79 in OT. Overall, the Yellow Jackets are 18-22 when playing in OT. Under Joseph, Tech has a 4-10 record in overtime. When playing more than one overtime period, the Jackets are 2-5.

So far this season, sophomore Kaela Davis has scored at least 20 points in five of nine games. Davis is tied for second in the ACC among active players with five 20 point games this season. She has 19 career 20 point games and the Jackets are 13-6 when Davis scores at least 20 points.

Senior Sydney Wallace leads the Jackets with 21 made 3-pointers. Wallace is averaging 2.3 made 3-pointers a game which ranks seventh in the ACC. She is shooting 39.6 percent (21-of-53) from behind the arc. Wallace has made at least one 3-pointer in every game besides one and has made at least three shots from behind the arc in three games. Her season-high is five made 3-pointers which she accomplished at #16/16 Michigan State. 

Her 14.1 ppg scoring average ranks 17th in the ACC. Wallace has led Tech in scoring this season twice and has 958 career points, just 42 away from hitting 1,000. Her 163 career-made 3-pointers ranks sixth in Georgia Tech history.

Sophomore Kaela Davis extended her double-figure scoring streak to 21-straight games. Davis has scored at least 20 points in four of the past six games. Her 20 points against Michigan State marked her19th 20-point game. Against Villanova, Davis led Tech with 24 points, her 21st time in her career and sixth time this season that she has led the Jackets in scoring. Davis has scored in double-figures in all nine games this season and has five 20-point games. Davis has scored in double-figures in 38 games in her 41-game career.

Davis’ 18.4 points per game ranks fourth in the ACC and first on the Jackets. Her 5.9 rebounds
per game is second-best on the team.

on the way to 1,000
Two Yellow Jackets are closing in on 1,000 career points. Senior Sydney Wallace has 958 career points putting her 42 points shy from becoming the 27th Yellow Jacket to achieve the feat. Sophomore Kaela Davis has 760 career points, which makes her 240 points away from 1,000. Davis has played in 41 career games. The record for the fastest player to reach 1,000 points is 55 games.

The Yellow Jackets have continued their dominance in rebounding with a +9.4 rebounding margin, which is fifth in the ACC and 29th in the NCAA. Rogers leads the way with a 10.3 rpg average. She ranks fourth in the ACC and is tied for fourth in offensive rebounds with 4.0 rebounds per game. 

Tech has won the rebounding battle in six out of nine games. Against Grambling State, outrebounding the Tigers, 45-18, grabbing more offensive rebounds (24), than Grambling’s total rebounds.

INTERNATIONAL FLAVOR
Georgia Tech’s roster boasts three players that hail from Europe. Sophomore Katarina Vuckovic is a native of Smederevo, Serbia. Freshman Antonia Peresson comes to the Flats from Pordenone, Italy and freshman Simina Avram is a native of Brasov, Romania. The three all represented their home countries during this summer’s U20 European Championships. Vuckovic and Peresson squared off against each other twice in Udine, Italy during the championships. Peresson aided Italy to a bronze medal victory against Serbia. 

Vuckovic, Peresson and Avram are three of 10 total international players that Joseph has recruited to the Flats.
