CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Sophomore RHP Marquis Grissom, Jr. turned in a second-straight career outing as Georgia Tech baseball downed No. 7 Louisville 9-4 on Thursday afternoon at Truist Field in the ACC Tournament.
The Yellow Jackets (34-22) got a career-long 6.2 innings from Grissom, Jr. (4-5), as he allowed just three runs on five hits while striking out seven.
RHP Dawson Brown then closed the game to earn his fifth save of the year, allowing just one run on five hits in two innings to close the door.
Georgia Tech was led at the plate by a bases-clearing triple in the third by Drew Compton. He went an outstanding 4-for-5 on the day and fell just a home run shy of the cycle. Jake Deleo also cleared the bases on a ninth-inning double to add insurance and finishing with two hits, while Colin Hall impressed with a 3-for-5 day, driving in two runs.
Chandler Simpson rounded out the multi-hit performances with two knocks, while Kevin Parada also drove in a run by legging out a two-out infield single.
Louisville was led by Brandon Anderson, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. RHP Kade Grundy (1-1) received the loss, allowing three runs on one hit in just an inning of work.
Georgia Tech will now await its NCAA Regional destination. The NCAA Tournament Selection Show is scheduled for noon ET and will be broadcast live on ESPN2.
