Gibbs, Kidd Pace Jackets on Day Two of Meyo Invitational

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Sophomore E.C. Gibbs placed seventh in the men’s mile with a personal- and team season-best time of 4:11.74 to pace the Georgia Tech men’s and women’s track and field teams on day two of the Meyo Invitational. The Jackets set multiple personal- and season-best marks at the Notre Dame indoor track and field complex.

Ashlee Kidd, a senior from St. Petersburg, Fla., finished the women’s 60-meter dash in second place with a personal- and team season-best time of 7.45. Kidd also won the women’s 200-meter dash after running a NCAA provisional time of 23.70. Junior Shantia Moss crossed the line in sixth with a time of 24.75 for a sixth-place finish in the 200 and junior Shantrell Moss placed ninth (24.93).

Shantia Moss also placed second in the women’s 60-meter hurdles by setting a new personal-best and NCAA automatic qualifying time of 8.11. Moss currently is ranked second nationally in the 60m hurdles.

Junior Jerome Miller cleared the bar at an NCAA provisional mark of 7 feet, 1 inch in the men’s high jump to finish third. Sophomore Juan Cave finished fifth in the high jump with a mark of 6 feet, 11 inches.

Sophomore Steve Marcelle finished second in the men’s shot put with a new personal-best mark of 57 feet, 7 ¾ inches. Senior James Lemons II placed sixth in the men’s triple jump with a mark of 49 feet, 2 ½ inches.

Freshman Tiffany Grant set a new personal-best time in the women’s 400-meter dash with a time of 55.46 to place fifth. Junior Elena Linn also set a personal-best, finishing the women’s 3,000-meter run in a time of 9:56.17.

Junior Derek Hoye crossed the line seventh in the men’s 800-meter run in a personal-best time of 1:50.17. Freshman Alphonso Jordan tied a season-best time of 8.33 in the men’s 60-meter hurdles to finish in 13th place.

The Jackets will return to action next Friday and Saturday, Feb. 9-10, at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.
