Georgia Tech's Richard Lewis Named ACC Player Of The Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Georgia Tech second baseman Richard Lewis was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Player of the Week, the league office announced today.

Lewis earned the ACC weekly honor after leading top-ranked Georgia Tech to two victories over Georgia Southern last weekend in Statesboro. In the series, the Marietta, Ga., native notched six hits, six RBI and a.545 batting average. The junior finished with a 1.091 slugging percentage in 11 at bats.

In the first game against Georgia Southern (February 17), Lewis hit for the cycle to become the second Yellow Jacket in as many years to accomplish the feat. In the 23-3, win he finished with five hits in seven at bats, including two singles, one double, one triple and one home run. He scored a career-high five runs and added four RBI.

Virginia right-hander Dan Street was named the ACC’s Pitcher of the Week after tossing seven shutout innings against Navy.
