GREENSBORO, N.C. – On the eve of opening the ACC Women’s Tennis Championship, Georgia Tech women’s tennis collected five postseason honors as announced by the league office Thursday. Rasheeda McAdoo and Johnnise Renaud were both tabbed All-ACC first team, teammate Paige Hourigan made the All-ACC second team and freshman Nami Otsuka was named All-ACC third team. For the second consecutive year, head coach Rodney Harmon was named the ACC Coach of the Year.
McAdoo, who will round out her collegiate career with more than 85 career singles wins, picked up All-ACC first team honors for the first time in her career. The senior from Boca Raton, Fla., has led the Yellow Jackets from the top singles spot the majority of the season, posting an overall 19-12 singles record, including a 7-5 ACC mark. Paired with teammate Renaud in doubles, the tandem has been nationally ranked as high as No. 7 in the country this season. In doubles play, the pair boasts a 10-4 record from the No. 1 spot and are 4-0 at No. 2 for a combined 16-4 overall doubles mark.
Joining McAdoo on the All-ACC first team, Renaud dropped only one match in conference play, owning a remarkable 12-1 singles record in ACC action. Winning her the last five matches, the junior owns an overall record of 22-6 in singles play and is currently ranked No. 58. This marks the third postseason award for the North Miami, Fla., native. Last season, Renaud was also named All-ACC first team, and the junior was tabbed second team following her freshman campaign.
Also earning her third postseason accolade, Hourigan earned All-ACC second team honors after putting together a 10-3 ACC singles record and an 11-1 ACC doubles record this season. In singles play, Hourigan posted an 8-3 mark from the three-seed and was 2-0 from No. 2. Moving up to the No. 1 spot in doubles play midway through the season, Hourigan and teammate Kenya Jones posted a 6-0 mark there and went 5-1 from No. 2 to lead the Jackets in doubles action. Currently part of the 39th-ranked doubles tandem in the country, Hourigan is also ranked No. 84 in singles. Last season, the Turakina, New Zealand native earned third-team recognition after picking up second-team honors in 2015.
Otsuka put together an impressive collegiate debut campaign, dropping just one match in singles play in ACC action, going 12-1. The freshman went undefeated at the No. 5 spot, posting a 12-0 mark. Overall, the freshman boasts a 26-8 singles ledger, including a 21-2 dual mark. Heading into the final regular season match, Otsuka owned a 17-match win streak.
Harmon became the first coach in the league to earn consecutive ACC Coach of the Year honors since 2011, receiving the accolade for the second time in five seasons. Harmon has led Tech to a 23-3 overall record and 13-1 ACC ledger – earning a share of the regular season title. Harmon has led the Jackets to the NCAA Tournament every season he’s been at the helm, and he is the second coach in Georgia Tech program history to earn the recognition.
