Georgia Tech Women's Basketball Set to Open Practice with Midnight Mania

ATLANTA — The Georgia Tech women’s basketball team will begin preparations for the 2001-02 season on Friday night with its first practice as part of the annual “Midnight Mania” celebration beginning at 10:00 p.m. at Alexander Memorial Coliseum.

The doors will open for the event at Gate 3 beginning at 10:00 p.m.. The cost of the event is free and there will be free pizza and drinks for the first 100 fans. Head Coach Berenato and the entire team and coaching staff will be available from 10-10:45 p.m. for an autograph session prior to the start of practice.

The evening will include games and prizes for people of all ages prior to the introduction of the team at 11:30 p.m. The night will conclude with the Yellow Jackets’ first practice of the new year beginning at midnight.

Tech will be looking to build on its second-straght postseason appearance in 2001-02 and will welcome back nine letterwinners and four starters from the 2000-01 season. The group will be anchored by a veteran senior class that includes forward Regina Tate and guards Milli Martinez and Ashley Ebert.

The Yellow Jackets will see their first outside competition on November 2, when they host their first exhibition game of the year against the Basketball Travelers at Alexander Memorial Coliseum beginning at 5:00 p.m.
