ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech women’s basketball team earned its school record fifth consecutive berth in the NCAA Tournament with an at-large selection to the field of 64 Monday night as a fifth seed in the Dayton Region.

The 24th-ranked Yellow Jackets (23-10) were selected as a No. 5 seed and will play the No. 12 seed Bowling Green Falcons at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19 in Columbus, Ohio. The fifth seed is the highest Georgia Tech has ever received, besting the sixth seed the Jackets earned last season.

The Falcons, out of the Mid-American Conference, are 28-4 and posted a 13-3 league record, and won the MAC Conference Tournament for the second straight year. Senior Lauren Prochaska leads BGSU with 17.9 points per game.

Of Georgia Tech’s six previous NCAA Tournaments, four have come under Joseph (2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010). In five of the previous six, the Yellow Jackets have been sent to the Central time zone with the one exception being 2003 when Tech played Virginia Tech in West Lafayette, Ind.

The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2 and at 11 a.m.
