THE FLATS — With both the Washington Nationals falling to the Chicago Cubs in the National League Divisional Series, the Georgia Tech baseball #ProJackets’ 2016-17 season has come to an end.
The 2016-17 season was highlighted by Charlie Blackmon‘s MVP-esque season and career numbers, while the seventh year MLB pro was also an NL All-Star and competed in the MLB Home Run Derby at the All-Star break.
Matt Wieters bounced back from an injury in 2015-16 to play over 120 games for the Nationals, while Buck Farmer was a road warrior on the season moving up to the Detroit Tigers a number of times before staying up with the MLB team over the last month of the season.
Right-hander Deck McGuire made his MLB debut in September for the Cincinnati Reds, while a number of players saw call ups throughout the minor league system in Luke Bard, Sam Clay, Brandon Cumpton, Brandon Gold, Matt Gonzalez, Matthew Gorst, Daniel Palka, Zac Ryan and Daniel Spingola.
Three #ProJackets in Trevor Craport, Ryan Peurifoy and Ryan made their professional debuts in 2017, while Spingola (Double-A), McGuire (Double-A), Dusty Isaacs (Double-A), and Clay (Class A) all earned all-star honors for their respective leagues over the summer.
