THE FLATS — With three weeks left in the MLB regular season, Charlie Blackmon continues to lead the Colorado Rockies in their bid for a playoff spot, while the other Georgia Tech baseball major league #ProJackets are looking to help close their season’s out on a high note.
Blackmon, whose Rockies team has maintained a 1.5-game lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers and a 2.5-game lead over Arizona, has hit .379 with three homers in the last week as they begin a nine-game road trip against NL West rivals Friday with a series at San Francisco.

Fellow #ProJacket Derek Dietrich, now an everyday starter for the Miami Marlins, has established career highs in base hits (125), runs scored (70), total bases (201), doubles (24), home runs (16) and games played (135). Rookie Daniel Palka became just the fourth #ProJacket to hit 20 home runs in the first full MLB season (22), joining Mark Teixeira, Nomar Garciaparra and Jason Varitek, and has demonstrated a flair for the dramatic, belting six ninth-inning home runs to lead the major leagues. Palka ranks among the American League rookie leaders in home runs (3rd, 22), RBI (3rd, 57), extra-base hits (T3rd, 39), total bases (5th, 172) and runs scored (5th, 48).

On the mound, Buck Farmer has enjoyed his full season in the big leagues with 55 strikeouts over 62 innings of work out of the bullpen for the Detroit Tigers.
