THE FLATS – Georgia Tech baseball has earned a No. 2 seed in the Knoxville Regional for the 2022 NCAA Baseball Tournament, the NCAA Baseball Committee announced Monday.
The Yellow Jackets (34-22) will join top-ranked Tennessee, as well as three-seeded Campbell and fourth-seeded Alabama State.
Georgia Tech will make its 34th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and its third-straight since 2019 (no tournament was held in 2020).
The Jackets are 75-67 (.528) all-time in the NCAA Tournament and is 67-56 (.545) all-time in the first-round, Regional action.
Georgia Tech will play its first game of the Knoxville Regional against Campbell on Friday, June 3. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live ESPN+ and WREK 91.1 FM.
Regional Notes:
- Georgia Tech will head to Lindsey Nelson Stadium in the postseason for the second time ever, previously playing California and Tennessee in 1995.
- All-time against the field, Georgia Tech holds a 45-33 advantage against Tennessee, playing them last in 2006; Georgia Tech holds a 4-0 advantage over Campbell, last playing in 2003; and Georgia Tech holds a 1-0 advantage over Alabama State, playing them in 2008.
