Georgia Tech Baseball Scheduled for TV a Record 11 Times

ATLANTA (Mar. 8) – Georgia Tech’s baseball team is scheduled to appear in television a minimum of 11 times this spring, including nine games that will air throughout the Southeast on Fox Sports Net South and two more in Atlanta on Media One cable channel 33.

It is the most scheduled television appearances for a Tech baseball team ever in one season.

For the ninth straight year, Georgia Tech will have a five-game package broadcast exclusively on Fox Sports Net South, which is over 7.8 million households in the states of Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. This package features Tech vs. North Carolina on Mar. 19, Duke on Mar. 25, Florida State on Apr. 22, Georgia on Apr. 25, and Clemson on Apr. 30.

Wes Durham, the radio voice of the Yellow Jackets in football and men’s basketball for the past five years and the past four seasons for Tech baseball, will call the play-by-play for these television games. The 1999 recipient of the Georgia Sportscaster of the Year award, Durham has also served as radio voice at Vanderbilt, Radford, Marshall and his alma mater, Elon College.

Alongside Durham for the five-game package will be Randy Carroll, a former Tech all-America second baseman in the 1960’s who has served as color analyst on Tech baseball radio broadcasts for the past 15 seasons.

Tech also is scheduled to appear once on the Atlantic Coast Conference regional TV game of the week, three times on Fox Sports Net Florida and twice more on the Sunshine Network in Florida.

Tech’s Apr. 29 game against Clemson is the Jackets’ lone appearance on the ACC Game of the Week package. The ACC games air Saturday afternoons on Fox Sports Net South, along with Home Team Sports which serves the Mid-Atlantic region, and the Sunshine Network, with serves the state of Florida.

Tech fans also will be able to view all three of the Yellow Jackets’ games at defending College World Series champion Miami May 6-8 on Fox Sports Net South, and Tech’s Apr. 21 and 23 games at Florida State can be seen in Atlanta on Media One Channel 33. The Miami games will be produced live on Fox Sports Net Florida, while the FSU games will be produced by the Sunshine Network.
