Georgia Tech Fans,
Greetings from Charlotte! What a thrill it was to watch our baseball team score 11 runs in their last two at-bats yesterday to advance to the ACC Tournament semifinals with a 16-10 win over Virginia. I think that sometimes, in the lens of how talented this team is and successful they’ve been in winning 46 of their first 55 games, it gets overlooked how adept they are at overcoming adversity. Take yesterday’s game for example – starting pitcher Tate McKee has to leave the game early due to a small cut on his finger (rest easy, Jacket fans, he’ll be back next week!), and we’re down 9-5 with just eight outs to go against a really good Virginia team, coached by a person that has won this tournament twice in the last five years.
However, you could sense even from the stands that there was no panic, just calm and utmost confidence in their own ability to rally for a win – like they’ve now done 22 times this year. That is a huge credit to ACC Coach of the Year James Ramsey, team captain Drew Burress and the leaders up and down the roster. That leadership – in addition to their immense talent – is a huge reason why this team is in position to do very special things this postseason. So be sure to stay tuned this weekend and beyond.
If you’re coming to Charlotte for this weekend’s semifinals and championship game, be sure to join Coach Ramsey, myself and members of the Tech family tonight (Friday, May 22) for a social hour at the Omni Charlotte Hotel (132 E. Trade Street) from 5:30-7 p.m. We look forward to seeing you there and at the ballpark this weekend!

POSTSEASON BASEBALL TICKETS
At this point, I don’t think I’m jinxing it when I say that we are a virtual lock to host an NCAA Baseball Tournament regional next weekend (May 29-June 1) and, should we win that regional, an NCAA super regional the following weekend (June 5-8) at Mac Nease Baseball Park at Russ Chandler Stadium. The full tournament field will be revealed during the NCAA Baseball Tournament Selection Show on Monday at noon on ESPN2.
If you are a season ticket member for any of our sports (baseball, football, basketball, volleyball or softball), you should have received information on how to request tickets for NCAA Tournament games. Additionally, if you are currently not a season ticket member, but put a deposit down for 2027 baseball season tickets, you are also in the mix to have the opportunity to purchase postseason tickets, with requests being fulfilled based on Alexander-Tharpe Fund priority points. The Georgia Tech athletics ticket office will notify all fans that have requested postseason tickets of the status of their requests soon after the tournament bracket is announced next week.
We fully expect that all postseason games at Mac Nease Baseball Park at Russ Chandler Stadium will sell out (a pretty easy prediction based on demand that saw us average over-capacity crowds over the final two months of the regular season!).
With sellouts anticipated for all of our postseason games at Mac Nease Park, we are also going to shatter our goal of 50 sellout events for Georgia Tech athletics in 2025-26. The sellout mark currently stands at 48:
Football – 4 (including Pop-Tarts Bowl ticket allotment)
Volleyball – 15
Softball – 12
Baseball – 9
Men’s Basketball – 1
Men’s Tennis – 1
White & Gold Game Legends Brunch
White & Gold Game Kids Clinic
White & Gold Game Season Ticket Members event
Chris Brown Breezy Bowl Tour
Bruno Mars: The Romantic Tour — 2
TOTAL: 48
First, THANK YOU for your incredible support of Georgia Tech athletics throughout this year. Fifty sellouts was a lofty goal, but your passionate support of our teams and student-athletes made it possible.
Second, please be on the lookout for special fan HQ events throughout the NCAA Baseball Tournament that will allow fans who aren’t able to secure tickets to see the action live on The Flats to gather with other Georgia Tech fans and cheer on the Yellow Jackets throughout the postseason.
SOFTBALL
Tech fans were also treated to some historic moments on the softball diamond this season, highlighted by advancing to an NCAA regional final for the first time in 16 years! Congratulations to head coach Aileen Morales and her team – led by all-ACC third baseman Gracyn Tucker – on a terrific season and, once again, THANK YOU fans for your support. A program-record 12 sellouts at Mewborn Field is a big reason why this team was able to earn a second-consecutive NCAA Tournament berth for the first time since 2011 and 2012.
The future of Georgia Tech softball is bright. Like Tech baseball, sellouts are becoming the norm at Mewborn Field, and therefore, season tickets are the only way to guarantee seats for the biggest games of the year. So be sure to be on the lookout for 2027 season ticket information and secure your spot at Mewborn Field for next spring.
GOLF
Our No. 22-ranked golf team also earned a spot in an NCAA regional, playing this week at Bermuda Run C.C. in Winston-Salem, N.C. Despite shooting 17 under par in the third and final round of the tournament – the lowest round by a team all week at the Winston-Salem Regional – our team came up just short of being one of the five teams to advance to the NCAA Tournament final next week in California.
Making the end of the golf team’s NCAA Tournament run so difficult is that it also marked the close of head coach Bruce Heppler’s historic 31-year run at the helm of our golf program. It’s impossible to put into words the impact that Coach Heppler made in his 31 years on The Flats – not just on Georgia Tech golf, but on Tech athletics and the Institute as a whole. It’s also impossible to list all the stats, but some of them are mind-boggling – 74 tournament victories, 14 ACC championships, 28-straight NCAA Regional appearances (every season since 1998), two NCAA individual champions, three U.S. Amateur champions, a British amateur champion and four NCAA runner-up finishes as a team.
But he hasn’t just developed some of golf’s premier teams and players – he has developed men that have gone on to be successful in all walks of life, and his contributions to Georgia Tech off the course are immeasurable.
We are in the final stages of a national search for a new head coach to take the torch from Coach Heppler and carry on the colossal legacy that he has built here at Tech. But, in the meantime, please join me in congratulating Coach Heppler on an incredible career, celebrating his historic accomplishments and thanking him for all that he has done for Georgia Tech!
I hope you have a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend. Go Jackets!Go Jackets!

Ryan Alpert
