Four Yellow Jackets Named to 2008 All-ACC Academic Baseball Team

July 30, 2008

ATLANTA – Four Yellow Jackets – Charlie Blackmon, Brad Feltes, Jason Haniger and Tony Plagman – have been named to the 2008 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Baseball Team, as announced by Commissioner John D. Swofford.

Feltes and Plagman were named to the squad for the second-straight year, while Blackmon and Haniger received the honor for the first time in their careers. Since 2006 (the first year of the academic squad), Tech has placed 13 players on the All-ACC Academic Baseball Team, and only Feltes and Plagman have received the honor on multiple occasions.

Florida State and Duke led all ACC schools with six student-athletes on the 2008 squad, while Maryland placed five members on the team.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned at least a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained at least a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career. The voting committee also considers athletic achievement and game participation when selecting the team.

The 2008 All-ACC Academic Baseball Team is as follows:
