THE FLATS – Avery Bartlett, Daniel Pietsch, Nahom Solomon , and Jeanine Williams were all named to the indoor track and field All-ACC Academic Team, the conference announced on Thursday.

The Yellow Jackets earned the selection by recording a 3.0 grade-point average or better for the previous semester while maintaining at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA for their academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

Bartlett had a fine junior season, finishing with the fifth-fastest time in the ACC for the 800m event. En route to 11 top-five finishes on the season, the Tallahassee, Fla. native was also one of two to represent Georgia Tech at the NCAA Championships in Texas, garnering second-team all-America honors. Bartlett also excelled this semester as a computational media major, finishing the semester with a 3.60 GPA.

In his first season as a Yellow Jacket, Pietsch ranked sixth-fastest time in the ACC in the 400m before finishing sixth at the ACC Championships. In total, the senior recorded seven top-10 finishes overall, including helping the 4×400-relay team to a first-place finish at the Commodore Invitational. The mechanical engineer transfer also had a fine first semester at Georgia Tech in the classroom, earning a 3.80 GPA.

Solomon turned in by far his best indoor season of his career, recording the fourth-fastest 3000m time in the ACC en route to the school record in the event. He would also go on to break the school record in the 5000m event, turning in the fifth-best time in the conference. Solomon finished in the top-10 six times this season to lead the long-distance Jackets. In his final year working toward a degree in computer engineering, the Snellville, Ga. native finished the semester with a 3.85 GPA to make his cumulative average a 3.75.

In her impressive indoor campaign that ended in her first ACC title in the 60m hurdles, Williams turned in the top time (8.02) in the conference all year – also good for fourth-fastest in the country and 22 nd-fastest in the world. The Kingston, Jamaica native also finished first or second in all but one meet on the season to represent Tech in the NCAA Championships where she earned second-team all-American status. A junior biochemistry major, Williams finished the semester with a perfect 4.0 GPA to push her cumulative average to a 3.78.
