ATLANTA – Roberto Castro, Taylor Hall, Kevin Larsen and Cameron Tringale all made the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic men’s golf team announced Thursday by the conference office and commissioner John D. Swofford.
Tech, the ACC co-champion this year, and Boston College each had four players selected for the second year in a row. Castro and Tringale are among five golfers to earn both all-conference and academic all-conference, while Hall and Larsen join Castro as repeat honorees.
Castro, an industrial engineering major from Alpharetta, Ga., who graduated with high honor on May 5, also has been named a ESPN the Magazine CoSIDA Academic All-American this year, in addition to winning the Byron Nelson Award and second-team All-America honors. He outdid his golf accomplishments with his performance in the classroom, posting a perfect 4.0 grade-point average in his final semester.
Larsen, a May 5 graduate in management from Santa Barbara, Calif., and Hall, a sophomore management major from LaGrange, Ga., made the team for the second straight year. Both players were key members of the squad that captured a share of the ACC title and finished eighth at the NCAA Championship.
Tringale, a sophomore management major from Laguna Niguel, Calif., is a first-time honoree. He also earned second-team All-America honors this year and led the team in stroke average.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
