THE BASICS:
• Georgia Tech (1-1) dropped its first game of the season as Fordham (1-1) scored the game’s final five runs and beat the Yellow Jackets, 9-4, in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday at Russ Chandler Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Fordham broke a scoreless tie with a three-run fifth inning and expanded that lead to 4-1 before the Yellow Jackets pushed across three in the sixth to draw even.
• The visitors jumped on Tech’s bullpen and regained their lead with a four-run seventh and added insurance with a run in the eighth.
• Fordham’s Luke Stampfl drove in five of the team’s nine runs.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
• Senior Devin Stanton gave the Yellow Jackets four shutout innings, but was matched by Fordham starter Jimmy Murphy, who kept Tech off the board over the first four innings.
• Fordham’s Luke Stampfl broke the ice with a two-out, three-run double in the fifth that ended Stanton’s day. Two innings later, Stampfl added a two-run double to left that broke a 4-4 tie and would stand as the game-winner.
Daniel Spingola’s RBI single put Tech on the board in the fifth, and the Jackets drew even in the sixth thanks to an RBI single from A.J. Murray, an RBI double from Keenan Innis and an RBI triple from Brandon Gold — the first of his career.
• Innis finished 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, while Gold was 2-for-3 with a double, triple and a walk.
• Fordham reliever Kirk Haynes, Jr. tossed the final 3.2 innings in relief of Murphy and earned the win. He retired the final nine Yellow Jackets in order.
• Stanton fanned six over his 4.2 innings on the mound and was on the hook for four hits and three runs. Reliever Matthew Gorst was hung the loss.
