Fofanah and Kidd Lead Jackets on Final Day of Rod McCravy Memorial

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Junior Fatmata Fofanah clocked a NCAA Provisional time of 8.35 in the women’s 60-meter high hurdles and junior Ashlee Kidd posted a NCAA Provisional mark of 53.89 in the women’s 400 meters to lead the Georgia Tech men’s and women’s track and field teams at the Rod McCravy Memorial on Saturday.

Fofanah, a native of Bronx, N.Y., tied her indoor personal-best time in the 60m hurdles and finished second in the event. Sophomores Shantia Moss and Tenisha Griggs finished third and fourth, respectively, in the 60m hurdles with times of 8.45 and 8.66.

Kidd, a native of St. Petersburg, Fla., won the 400 and finished third in the 200-meter dash with a season-best time of 24.17. She tallied her third top-six finish for Tech in the 60-meter dash with a personal-best time of 7.53.

Senior Andriane Lapsley clocked a lifetime-best indoor time of 24.01 in the women’s 200-meter dash to finish in first place for the Yellow Jackets. Lapsley tallied a fourth-place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.49.

Junior David Herren and freshman E.C. Gibbs posted third-place finishes to lead the men’s team. Herren clocked a personal-record indoor time of 4:12.66 in the mile, while Gibbs ran a season-best time of 1:52.81 in the 800 meters.

Junior Jenny Sims finished third in the women’s mile run with a season-best mark of 4:52.97. Sophomores Nisha Kurian and Elena Linn finished seventh and eighth, respectively, for the Jackets in the mile with personal-best times of 4:57.00 and 5:03.46.

Senior Brandy Depland tallied a season-best mark of 19 feet, 2 ¾ inches, in the women’s long jump to finish in third place for Tech. Sophomore Antoinetta McKay finished fourth with a leap of 18 feet, 9 ¾ inches.

Redshirt freshman Andy Powlen tallied a fourth-place finish in the men’s shot put with a mark of 55 feet, 3 ½ inches, for the Rambling Wreck. Senior Misty Dirksen finished fourth in the women’s 800 meters with a personal-record indoor time of 2:14.53.

Junior Lindsey Vincent and sophomore Derek Hoye posted fifth-place finishes for the Jackets. Vincent ran a personal-record indoor time of 57.21 in the women’s 400 meters, while Hoye finished the men’s 800 meters with a season-best time of 1:53.90.

Senior Jewel Welch finished the women’s shot put in sixth place with a personal-best mark of 42 feet, 9 ½ inches. Freshman Nigel Orr finished sixth in the men’s long jump with a mark of 22 feet, 4 ½ inches.

Sophomore Shantrell Moss rounded out top-eight finishes for the Jackets. She crossed the finish line in seventh place in the women’s 200-meter dash with a season-best time of 24.45.

The Yellow Jackets will compete in the Meyo Invitational, Feb. 3-4, in South Bend, Ind., on the campus of Notre Dame.
