THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s basketball freshman forward Elizabeth Dixon was tabbed Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Rookie of the Week after posting two double-doubles over the week to help the Jackets go 2-0.
Dixon, who has earned the start in all four contests on the young season, had a productive week on the hardwood, pocketing her first two collegiate double-doubles. The Memphis, Tenn., native got the week started with 13 points and 10 rebounds in Tech’s win over Western Carolina, then pulled down 11 rebounds and 10 points in an upset win over No. 14 Georgia.
The Yellow Jacket went a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line in the two games, while also collecting three steals and two blocks. She became the first Jacket to record back-to-back double-doubles since Zaire O’Neil in March, 2018, and the first freshman to have consecutive double-doubles since Kaela Davis in 2013-14.
Dixon shares the honor this week with Maeve Djaldi-Tabdi of Syracuse. Notre Dame’s Arike Ogunbowale was named player of the week.
The Jackets are back in action this week, heading to Mexico for the Cancun Challenge where they will meet George Washington (Nov. 22) and Idaho State (Nov. 23).
