>> Georgia Tech, which has appeared in all 34 ACC Baseball Championships since entering the league, heads to Durham, N.C. as the seventh-seed to defend its 2012 championship title.
>> The Yellow Jackets are in Pool B with Florida State, Virginia and Virginia Tech, and will open pool play on Wednesday at 11 a.m. versus FSU. Tech plays Virginia at 11 a.m. Thursday and concludes the loop with Virginia Tech on Friday at 3 p.m. All three games will air on the ACC’s regional sports networks and ESPN3 with Bob Rathbun and Dan Bonner, while Nolan Alexander and Wade Rogers have the call on WREK 91.1 FM in Atlanta.
>> Four Yellow Jackets were named to the All-ACC Team: first-team honorees C Zane Evans, OF Daniel Palka and SP Buck Farmer; and second-team OF Kyle Wren. Farmer is a three-time All-ACC pitcher, while Palka and Wren earn their second All-ACC honors.
>> Palka (17) and Evans (14) finished first and second in the ACC in home runs in the regular season, and the duo ranked third and fourth in RBI (Palka 63, Evans 62) and were second and fifth in slugging percentage (Palka .665, Evans .618).
>> Evans has a team-leading eight game-winning RBI this season, with six coming in Tech’s last 13 wins. Wren, who hit .370 to rank fourth in the league and led the ACC with 88 hits, has scored a team-leading eight game-winning runs.
>> The next start for senior RHP Buck Farmer will be the 50th of his career. The senior righty, who is 8-4 in 2013 with a 2.80 ERA, is the NCAA’s active leader in wins (32) and strikeouts (369). He is Tech’s first pitcher in history to win three All-ACC awards.
