The Georgia Tech baseball team begins the 2011 season Friday, Feb. 18 when it opens a three-game series with Kent State. With seventeen newcomers on the 2011 team, RamblinWreck.com will hold a Q&A with at least one freshman everyday until opening day in the “Countdown to first pitch” series.
Today’s feature is with freshman first baseman Colby Wren.

RW.com: Why did you choose Georgia Tech?
CW: The athletic and educational opportunities here are far superior after college than most other programs.
RW.com: What is the best piece of advice that a coach gave you?
CW: There is always someone better than you so use your time to get better every day.
RW.com: What player, if any, do you pattern your game after?
CW: Matt Diaz.
RW.com: What is your dream job?
CW: I would love to be a Public Relation director of an athletic organization.
RW.com: What’s the one memory that stands out from your childhood?
CW: Probably the Marlins winning the World Series when my dad worked with them.
RW.com: Name the most interesting place you’ve visited…
CW: The British Virgin Islands were by far the most interesting place I have ever visited. You don’t get much better than warm weather and clear Blue Ocean to scuba dive in.
RW.com: What’s your nickname? Reasoning behind it?
CW: My nickname is “Cheddar” because Colby JACK would be considered cool so Cheddar it was.
RW.com: What jobs have you held?
CW: I have worked with Group VI realty, and Ravin Homes as site cleanup and sales associate.
RW.com: Who is the most famous person you’ve ever met?
CW: Bono from U2
