ATLANTA-Tech standout Steven Blackwood and track star Ashlee Kidd were named the Wendy’s Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, May 31, 2004.
Blackwood, a sophomore from Roswell, Ga., was Tech’s leading hitter in the ACC Tournament, going 11-for-23 with a home run and six RBI. He also scored 5 runs in the ACC Tournament. Blackwood was named 1st-team CoSIDA Academic All-District III and was also named 2nd-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference.
Kidd, a freshman from St. Petersburg, Fla., was part of the women’s 4x100m relay team that broke the Tech record with a time of 44.00. The team finished third in the 4x100m to qualify for the Outdoor NCAA Championships. Kidd posted a personal-best time of 51.76 in the 400 meters to finish second and qualify for the NCAA.
