>> After playing eight of its last nine on the road, Georgia Tech embarks on a season-long 10-game homestand Wednesday by hosting cross-town rival Georgia State at 6 p.m.
>> The Yellow Jackets are looking to sweep the two-game season series from the Panthers after winning 9-4 in Panthersville on March 19. Wednesday’s starter Ben Parr earned his first career win (5.0 innings, three hits, two runs, four strikeouts) in that game.
>> Tech is fourth in the ACC with a .277 team average, boasting a balanced attack with seven players hitting .290+ and already 38 sacrifice bunts or flies in 28 games – well more than half of last year’s total of 62 in 64 games.
>> The Jackets have had a knack for playing close ball games with 15 of the 28 being decided by two runs or less and five in extra innings (2-3). Tech is 5-4 in one-run games and its average margin of defeat in its 13 losses is just 2.5 runs.
>> Senior 2B Mott Hyde owns a six-game hitting streak and led the Jackets last week by hitting .316 (6-for-19). Over his six-game hit streak, Hyde is 10-for-26 (.385).
