Bartlett, Williams Earn Second-Team All-American at NCAAs

March 9, 2018

THE FLATS — Georgia Tech indoor track and field was represented well by juniors Jeanine Williams and Avery Bartlett in the first day of the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday evening.

“Avery really put up a good fight tonight and I’m very proud of his effort,” head men’s coach Grover Hinsdale said. “He missed the final by 0.07 seconds. Coach Drosky and Coach Megesi are doing a great job in bringing him along. I’m looming forward to see what he can accomplish during the upcoming outdoor season.”

“We’re poud of Jeanine, she’s had an outstanding indoor season,” head women’s coach Alan Drosky said. “She didn’t have the race she wanted today and at this meet you have to be at your best. She’ll get back after it outdoors looking to get back to NCAAs in Eugene.”

Williams was able to finish 13th overall in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.18 to earn second-team all-American honors.

Bartlett finished just one spot removed from qualifying with a ninth-place time of 1:48.24 overall. The junior distance runner earned second-team all-American honors with his prelims performance.
