THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s basketball freshman guard Elizabeth Balogun earned her first Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Week honor after leading the Yellow Jackets past Kennesaw State this past weekend.
Balogun, who has earned the start in all 10 contests, scored a team-high 15 points against the Owls helped by a 3-for-5 effort from three-point range. The freshman also secured a career-best eight rebounds, six coming on the defensive end, to come up just short of her first collegiate double-double. She finished the contest with three blocks, a personal-best, and dished out three assists.
On the season, Balogun is second on the team in scoring, averaging 12.2 points per game. She is tied for second on the team in assists (20) and blocks (11).
The Jackets are back in action this week, heading to the West Palm Invitational in West Palm Beach, Fla., where they will face Seton Hall (Dec. 20) and Dayton (Dec. 21).
